3. After You Apply: log in to your application to review and, if necessary, change your telephone number, e-mail or mailing address. You can also apply to additional campuses if they’re still open.

Remember, SAT or ACT test scores will not be considered for admission decisions. If you choose to report test scores as part of your application, they may be used as an alternative method of fulfilling minimum requirements for eligibility or for course placement. For freshman or sophmore applicants, be sure to have your ACT and SAT scores reported by the testing agency. If you have your official score report sent to one campus, it will be available to all campuses to which you applied.

If you’re a transfer student, about five weeks after the filing period has ended, you are required to update your grades and course records.

Each campus that accepts you for admission will issue you a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) form or direct you to a website where you can declare your intent to register. Use the form or website to indicate whether you accept or decline the admission offer. You may accept admission to one campus only. A $250 nonrefundable deposit must accompany your acceptance. Housing and financial aid information will be included in your admission offer.

4. Entry Level Writing Requirement

Freshmen must demonstrate their command of the English language by fulfilling the Entry Level Writing Requirement. Students can meet this requirement by scoring:

  • 30 or better on the ACT Combined English/Writing test; or
  • 680 or better on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section of the SAT
  • 3 or higher on either College Board Advanced Placement Examination in English (Language or Literature); or
  • 5 or higher on an International Baccalaureate High Level English A exam; or
  • 6 or higher on an International Baccalaureate Standard Level English A exam.

All incoming California students who have not met the Entry Level Writing Requirement by April 1, must take the UC Analytical Writing Placement Examination. The exam will be administered in May at testing centers throughout the state. There is a fee for the test, but it will be waived if you have already received a waiver of your UC application fees.

5. Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Disability Resources and Other Campus Support Programs

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides assistance through mentorship, academic programs, financial assistance,counseling/advising and other campus support services to those who are first-generation college students, and/or from lowincome and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.

In addition to assisting students through to graduation, EOP helps prepare students for admission to graduate and professional schools. EOP serves students from all ethnic backgrounds, and is open only to California residents and to American Indians from any state.

To be considered for EOP, you should indicate your interest when you complete the online application.

UC provides special assistance and services to support students with disabilities so they can participate fully in campus programs and activities. Each campus has an office that coordinates a variety of services for students with permanent and temporary disabilities.

All campuses have programs for current and former foster youth, sometimes called Guardian or Hope Scholars. These programs offer guidance and counseling, academic advising, housing, financial aid, and other support services.

Additionally, UC will waive the $70 application fee for up to four campuses for low-income students. You can apply for a fee waiver within the online application and be notified immediately whether you have qualified.
