How Does Safe Place Work?
If a young person needs immediate help, they can depend on any location with the Safe Place sign.

Step 1:
A young person enters a Safe Place and asks for help.

Step 2:
The site employee finds a comfortable place for youth to wait while they call Sanctuary and Youth Services staff.

Step 3:
Within 20 minutes, Sanctuary staff will arrive to talk with the youth and if necessary provide transportation to Sanctuary Youth Shelter.

Step 4:
Once youth arrive at Sanctuary Youth Shelter, counselors meet with the youth and provide support.

We provide supportive services to all members of the LGBTQ+ community in Fresno County.

Services Include:

• Access to resources in a safe and inclusive environment
• Peer Support Groups
• Referrals to outside help
• Advocacy
• Case Management
• Housing Needs Assessment
• Trauma-informed care
• ArtHop – 1st Thursday of the month – 5-9pm
• The Q Clothing Closet (by appointment)

Sanctuary Transitional Shelter assists young adults (ages 18-24) with emergency shelter and supportive services.

Services Include:

• Basic needs including food, clothing and hygiene
• Crisis intervention
• Case management
• Referrals to community resources
• Aftercare support
• Linkages to permanent housing
• Drop-In services (for ages 24 and under)
